President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that a dollar ATM will be established in AA. Thoddoo.
During a meeting with the residents of Thoddoo this morning, as part of his ongoing trip to AA. Atoll, the President said that as part of the policy of providing equal services to citizens, he plans to make it possible to withdraw dollars while staying in Thoddoo.
"God willing, we will establish a dollar ATM. So, local banking, both rufiyaa and dollars, will be made available for the residents of each island from that island's income. Since this island earns a significant dollar income, we will establish a dollar ATM. And the project to establish rufiyaa ATMs in all islands of the Maldives has already begun," he said.
The President said that currently, there are about 50 guesthouses in Thoddoo, and projects for approximately 40 more are underway. Therefore, he said that a local tourism industry capable of bringing about 3,000 tourists to one island is developing within the next two years.
The President stated that over the next two years, work will begin practically in all parts of the Maldives, in an orderly manner, in line with his promises, and various projects will also be completed.
"So, we will proceed with the development projects of the Maldives in a scheduled and orderly manner, This is how things have progressed up to today. This is an undeniable truth. Therefore, road construction projects, school expansion, health center development and expansion, waste management work - these are essential needs for this island," he said.
The President further said that the government's approach to waste management is to carry it out in a very consolidated manner throughout the Maldives, or by dividing it into regions that can be managed together, utilizing the green tax received by the state. He said that these development works will be carried out within the coming year.
