A new fish species, previously unrecorded in the world, has been discovered in Maldivian waters.
The Marine Research Institute said that the fish has been recorded in eight areas of the Maldives. It was found in an area spanning 180 kilometers, from Faafu Atoll to Dhaalu Atoll.
The institute also stated that the fish was found at depths between 95 and 110 meters, where light begins to fade in the ocean.
The scientific name given to this fish is "Chromis Abadha". It grows up to 6.9 centimeters in size.
The Marine Research Institute further stated that they have caught and analyzed four of these fish.
