Two members representing the private sector on the board of the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), have been dismissed from their positions.
An official from MMA confirmed to One Online tonight that these members have been dismissed from their positions. However, the official did not specify the reason for their dismissal.
The two members dismissed from the MMA board today are Asad Ali, Deputy Secretary General of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), and Lawyer Shahudee Anwar, Chairman of the Maldives International Arbitration Center.
The MMA board consists of seven members, including two representatives from the private sector.
