A man has been arrested while collecting drugs brought through the post.

Maldives Police Service has arrested a 40-year-old Maldivian man in connection with the case. After his arrest, the police presented him to the Criminal Court yesterday for a remand hearing, where he was given a 20 day remand period.

The court order states that the police have submitted some evidence suggesting that the suspect committed the alleged crime. According to the court order, the police have submitted as evidence a statement from a police officer who went to the scene of the incident, a drug analysis report, and a urine test report.

According to the order, the package containing the hidden drugs was addressed to a person who was in custody at Dhoonidhoo Custodial at the time. The court order states that the suspect went to collect the package at the request of another person.

The court order states that the weight of the drugs involved in this case is 980 grams. It further mentions that the police have stated they will send the case to the Prosecutor General's Office within 8 days, requesting charges to be filed against the suspect.

According to the order, the suspect in this case has a previous record of drug-related offenses.
