A test flight from Bulgaria successfully landed at Addu Gan International Airport on Sunday, signalling potential direct air connectivity between Southeast Europe and Addu City.
The flight was conducted by GullivAir as part of efforts to explore the possibility of resuming chartered flights from Sofia, Bulgaria, to Addu. Gan International Airport shared the news on its official Facebook page, confirming that discussions have commenced to establish this route.
Currently, SriLankan Airlines is the only international carrier operating flights to Gan Airport. If realised, the introduction of chartered flights by GullivAir would expand international access to Addu, complementing its existing charter services to Velana International Airport.
This development is seen as a promising step in boosting tourism and strengthening Addu City’s connections with international markets.
