President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the Maldives is set to become a leading country in the field of artificial intelligence.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony of Maldives National University (MNU) today, the President expressed his goal of transforming 15 percent of the country's GDP into a digital economy. He also noted that the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has begun the process of introducing cryptocurrencies and digital currencies in the Maldives.
"Through digitalisation and artificial intelligence, we hope our small nation will take a leading role on the global stage. That is our ambition and the result we strive for," he said.
President Dr Muizzu emphasised his commitment to achieving these goals and urged the public to actively participate in fostering national progress.
Additionally, he identified housing as one of the most significant social challenges facing the country, highlighting that MVR 2.5 billion has been allocated in the current fiscal year's budget to address this issue.
