The Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) has approved its audit reports for the past four years at an extraordinary meeting, as instructed by Sports Commissioner Mohamed Tholal.
Representatives of all VAM clubs attended the extraordinary meeting held at Henveiru Ball House yesterday. They are Police Club, Alma Sports Club, Andhu Sports Club, Volleyball Youth New Generation, Club Volleyball, Youth New Generation, Club Half Line Linkage, Aspiration for All Initiatives Sports Club, Dhvehi Sifainge Club and Goodies Sports Club.
The meeting, chaired by VAM President Mohamed Latheef, finalized and approved the VAM audit reports for the fiscal years 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. It has the full support of the 13-member clubs.
Latheef, took over as VAM president in March this year. It was held at an extraordinary congress after the amendment of the VAM constitution. Latheef was elected as the VAM President for the remainder of the current term of the Volleyball Association's Executive Board.
The VAM was planning to hold the first election on March 15, but the election was postponed on the order of the Sports Commissioner. The commissioner allowed the subsequent election to be held with conditions. The conditions include preparing the VAM's audit reports for 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 and completing the election procedures.
The election was held again in late March with those conditions, and the audit was scheduled to be submitted within 90 days. Although the audit report could not be completed by that deadline, the VAM sent drafts of the audit reports to the commissioner last month.
Speaking to One Sports yesterday, Latheef, president of both the VAM and Central Volleyball Association (CAV), said it was a difficult task and he appreciated the cooperation of the member clubs. Latheef also assured that he would ensure that there would be no problems with the annual accounts in the future.
Representatives of the Commissioner of Sports, Maldives Olympic Committee, Maldives Sports National Council and CAVA attended the extraordinary meeting.
