MET office has advised caution over bad weather conditions.

Met Office forecaster Ahmed Shabin told One today that dry weather is expected to persist in the northern and central regions of the Maldives until Saturday, with improvements likely after Sunday.

"Winds will moderate from Addu to the southernmost region. For the rest of the country, heavy rainfall is expected," Shabin said.

He added that winds are expected to range from 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts reaching 45 to 55 miles per hour.

"Seas are expected to be rough, with wave heights between 5 to 8 feet in the northern and central regions starting tomorrow. In the Greater Malé Region, the conditions are strong, and travel should depend on weather alerts. A Yellow Alert is currently in effect for these areas, which has been in place since yesterday morning," Shabin explained.

A White Alert was issued earlier today from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, extending from the atolls to Addu City. According to the Met Office, thunderstorms and wind speeds between 10 to 24 miles per hour are expected in these areas, with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour and rough seas.

A Yellow Alert has also been issued from 1100 - 1500hrs for the central atolls, with expected wind speeds between 24 to 30 miles per hour, gusting up to 50 miles per hour, accompanied by rough seas.
