President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated the newly renovated Aasaharaa Mosque and Funeral House in Malé City, a project initiated during his tenure as Mayor of Malé. The inauguration ceremony, followed by Friday prayers led by the President, was held at the mosque earlier today.

The renovation project addressed long-standing challenges, such as insufficient space and inadequate facilities, particularly for people with special needs, women, and the many visitors to the cemetery.

The Aasaharaa Mosque has been upgraded to a two-storey, fully air-conditioned structure, including its waiting areas. The Funeral House has also been revamped, now offering three spacious, purpose-built areas for preparing the deceased.

Additional improvements include a ground-floor prayer space for individuals with limited mobility, separate restrooms for people with special needs and children, and gender-segregated facilities for the public. The redesign also features outdoor seating, enhanced waiting areas, a wider cemetery entrance, and designated motorcycle parking.

These enhancements aim to create a more accessible and comfortable environment for all users. After the inauguration and prayers, President Dr. Muizzu toured the newly renovated mosque, funeral house, and waiting areas.

This redevelopment reflects the President's vision of providing a dignified and spacious setting for citizens using the cemetery services.
