The Health Ministry has requested police to shut down a clinic operating an unregistered service called "Fazy's Hijama Therapy."
In a statement to the media, the police confirmed they are investigating the case, which involves the unauthorized operation of a hijama (cupping therapy) clinic in Hulhumalé without obtaining the required approval from the Health Ministry.
Sources reveal that the Health Ministry requested police last week to close down the Fazy's Hijama Therapy center. Previously, on September 11, the ministry had directed the clinic's owner, Fazila Usman, to cease operations until the center was officially registered and obtained an operating license.
In a past statement, the ministry clarified that it had ordered the clinic to suspend its services after meeting with the owner, urging compliance with registration requirements following complaints received by the ministry.
The Health Ministry also noted that social media promotions for Fazy's Hijama services cannot be conducted without prior approval. They requested the clinic to remove these advertisements and questioned the accuracy and safety of the medical reports issued to patients.
Back in 2019, the ministry had already issued an order prohibiting the clinic from offering hijama services unless it was properly registered and licensed. Despite this, the clinic continued operating without compliance.
