A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between STELCO and Maldives Polytechnic to train employees in technical and labour sectors and to enable the graduates of Maldives Polytechnic to gain an "industrial experience" at STELCO.
The MoU was signed on behalf of STELCO by its Managing Director Hussain Fahmy and on behalf of polytechnic by CEO Zushan Kamaluddin.
STELCO said the MoU will also help in various issues related to manpower building in the labour sector.
STELCO said the MoU will help the polytechnic in providing training programmes to STELCO and will enable graduates who come out of the polytechnic to gain "industrial experience" in STELCO depending on availability.
As part of the MoU, Polytechnic lecturers and students will be given the opportunity to visit STELCO's powerhouses in Greater Male' region to oversee the overhaul process.
In order to provide necessary support for teaching courses related to the main work done by STELCO run by polytechnics, both sides will provide the necessary equipment and relevant equipment to teach the courses, and the employees with experience and education of STELCO, who are required to teach in the courses of Polytechnic, will be taught as agreed upon by both sides.
In addition, in case the curriculum of the courses offered by the Polytechnic needs to be revised in view of the ongoing development of equipment and equipment, STELCO experts will be assisted in planning and implementing the professional development programmes of the technical staff of the Polytechnic.
Additionally, trainers brought in from abroad will be used to facilitate free participation of polytechnic-related "in-house training" programmes at STELCO, where Polytechnic lecturers and students will be able to participate free of cost as and when there is space, STELCO said.
Stelco said the MoU was signed for a period of five years.
