A dangerous hit-and-run accident occurred near the Vinares Flats in Hulhumalé Phase 2 today.

Police said a car and a motorcycle collided near the Phase Two Vinares Flats in Hulhumalé early this afternoon.

The male driver of the bicycle involved in the accident was taken to Hulhumale Hospital with injuries, police said.

A video of a red car speeding out of control and hitting a man on a motorcycle on the side of the road has been posted on social media. The video also shows the man on the bike swerving and falling on the door of a shop on the street.

One Online has learned that he had recently undergone spinal surgery. He sustained serious injuries in the accident. He suffered a broken head and a broken arm and leg.

The injured man is being treated in the emergency room of the IGMH hospital.

Police said they are investigating the accident. The driver of the car involved in the accident fled the scene.
