Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Thoriq has resigned as the deputy leader of the PNC Parliamentary Group.

Confirming the matter, Thoriq told One Online that he has resigned as the deputy leader of the PNC parliamentary group because he cannot give time to fulfill his responsibilities due to personal matters.

Thoriq is one of the fifth oldest members of parliament. Therefore, Thoriq is also among the members who can preside over the parliament.

He was appointed as the Deputy PG Leader of the PNC on May 22 this year.

Thoriq has resigned as he campaigns for the post of Football Association of Maldives (FAM) president.
