Former Chief Technology Officer at the President's Office, Hamid Shafeeu has passed away.

While the cause of death is unclear, it is believed that he died early this morning in India.

Hamid was appointed as the Chief Technology Officer at the President’s Office on 28 November 2019. Hamid remained in that position until the end of the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

President Solih shared his condolences via a post on X today. As such, he noted that Hamid is a renowned figure in the field of information technology in the Maldives, and that he has done many services to the country and the state.

Hamid holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University College of London. He is also a Natanix Support Specialist and a Cisco Meraki Support Specialist.

Hamid also served as Manager Technical Services Unit and Chief Network Administrator in the Information Technology Department of the President’s Office between 1998 and 2007.
