The Independence Day parade has been postponed due to bad weather.

MNDF said on Friday that the parade to mark the 59th Independence Day has been postponed to a later date, but did not divulge further information.

The parade was set to take place at 1615hrs.

Additionally, the Independence Day flag ceremony was also cancelled due to bad weather earlier today.

Maldives Cadet Corps parade and route march is scheduled to be held in Hulhumale' on Saturday evening.

The administration had earlier decided not to have floats, sports and other receptions to reduce government expenditure.
