Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has said that as part of its efforts to change the traffic flow in some parts of Hulhumale', the road around The Central Park (Bageecha Hingun) is set to be converted into a one-way and will be opened to the public on Saturday.
HDC on Thursday said the Corporation is working on drawing traffic lines and installing sign boards on the road to make Bageecha Hingun a one-way road.
"The work has been completed and the road will be open to the public from Saturday onwards," HDC said in a statement.
HDC said as part of the efforts to make Hulhumale' accident-free and to resolve traffic congestion, changes will be brought to 11 locations.
HDC said roundabouts will be constructed in some of the areas and traffic flow will be revised under the current project which the Corporation hopes to complete within the year.
According to HDC, the changes have been made to the traffic flow in Hulhumale' due to heavy traffic congestion on some roads in Hulhumale' leading to fatal accidents and inconvenience to road users.
"The areas where traffic flow will be changed have been identified based on data from the police and HDC," HDC said.
HDC said that once the changes to the 11 areas are completed, Hulhumale' traffic flow will improve significantly, there will be less congestion on the roads, and the streets of Hulhumale' will be a safe and secure place for vehicles and pedestrians.
