Hisaan Hussain, former legal director of the opposition main party MDP, has been appointed as the party's vice-president.

The MDP National Assembly meeting was held last night to elect the posts for the party.

MDP posted on X congratulating Hisaan on her appointment as the party's vice-president. They also posted a photo of Hisaan greeting MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail and MDP President Abdullah Shahid.

Hisaan’s name was proposed by Shahid for the post of MDP vice-president. Shahid said he believes Hisaan is capable of becoming the MDP president one day. He said the lack of women in the MDP leadership was also one of the reasons for his decision to nominate Hisaan.

Hisaan has been working for MDP for more than 17 years and has held various positions in MDP. She resigned from the post today after serving as the MDP's legal director for 12 years.
