CEO and Managing Director of VIA, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, has said that events such as Air Service World Congress in the Maldives provide significant opportunities for the development of the airport and expansion of business.
The Air Service World Congress is held between various stakeholders in the aviation sector and among businesses in the aviation sector. The congress was first held in 2010, making this the seventh time the congress is being held.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa on Tuesday, Shareef said the Air Service World Congress will open up new opportunities for the country's aviation industry to function and the relationships that emerge from the event will help in exploring business opportunities.
"The country is on its way to taking the economy to new heights. As part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's efforts to develop Velana International Airport with special priority, we are working to develop VIA as a place of equal service in the tourism sector," Shareef said, highlighting the need for a major international event like the Air Service World Congress.
Speaking on the occasion, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen said that there is a lot of scope for expansion of services related to the aviation sector in the Maldives and discussions at such congresses will play an important role in the development and development of the country's economy.
Participants were urged to make full use of the opportunities available at the Air Service World Congress.
With the Air Service World Congress, the leaders of other countries working in the sector will be informed about the country's growing aviation sector and will provide more opportunities for the efforts of the government and the private sector to further develop the sector, MACL said.
Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal and other senior officials of the industry were present on the occasion.
This year's Air Service World Congress of VIA is being held in the Maldives with a total of 27 airlines and 17 airports with more than 150 representatives from various sector companies from different walks of life.
