Thirty-seven people have been shortlisted out of 153 applicants to receive first round of IVF treatment under the Aasandha scheme.

Providing aasandha for the treatment of naturally unborn people is something President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu pledged to achieve in the first 100 days of his presidency. As promised by the Government, this year, aid for IVF treatment will be provided to the top 100 couples who meet the criteria.

On March 15, the Government opened applications for assistance in conducting IVF and IUI.

According to NSPA, the deadline for IVF and IUI through the Aasandha scheme expired on May 15 and 153 people had applied for help, out of which 37 who met the prescribed criteria would be informed about sharing their plans on how to continue treatment by July 30.

"We have extended the deadline for submission of forms and documents till the end of this month for those who have not yet completed their documents and wish to apply for new assistance," NSPA said, adding that those who have been declared not eligible for assistance can also apply again by the end of this month.
