Attorney General's (AG) Office has stated that the Governments Legislative Agenda includes 213 bills on 15 topics, of which 78 bills are entirely new.

AG Office said on Thursday that the Government will submit the bills included the Legislative Agenda will be submitted to the Parliament over the three sessions every year. AG Office said that since the bills will need to be revised according to the current situations before being submitted to the Parliament, the legislative agenda will be reviewed annually.

AG Office said that necessary amendments to the Legislative Agenda and the separate Legislative Agendas for the Parliament will be determined based on the three Majilis sessions every year.

Some of the significant bills in the Legislative Agenda include the bill to amend the Constitution, the proposed amendment to the Evident Act, the proposed amendment to the Civil Procedure Act, the proposed amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act, and the bill on holding public referendums to seek public opinion.

Additionally, the Legislative Agenda includes the bill to amend General Act on Elections, bill to amend Act on Determining the Electoral Constituencies of People's Majilis, bill to amend the Judicial Service Commission Act, bill to amend Act on Privileges and Powers of People's Majilis, bill to amend the Civil Service Act, bill on Prevention of Human Smuggling, and on Cyber Security.

The Legislative Agenda also includes new bills to be submitted to the Parliament. These include the bill related to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, the bill related to International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, and the bill on Housing, and Maldives International Financial Service Authority Bill, and the Foreign Investment Bill to name a few.
