The Chinese government has been awarded the feasibility study to build a 100-bed tertiary hospital in Villimalé.
Construction Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib signed the agreement on behalf of the Maldivian government at a ceremony held at the Ministry today. The Chinese Government was represented by Wang Lixin, Ambassador of China to the Maldives.
The Ministry said during this phase, the technical details of the project will be identified and the documents required for the tender phase will be prepared.

In response to a question on the "Raeesge Javaabu" program last March, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that improving the quality of health services in Villimalé is an important policy for the government, adding that the government will improve the services in the island.
"I have announced the construction of a 100-bed tertiary hospital in Villimalé. So the work is now underway. It was decided to carry out the work under Chinese free aid,” the President said.
The President said that once the design and technical work is completed, the construction of the hospital will begin. He assured the people of Villimalé that the hospital would soon provide satisfactory services.
