The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has advised travelers to exercise caution as heavy rains, strong winds, and rough seas are expected in the Maldives until Thursday.

The NDMA today advised seafarers to travel following the weather conditions and travel advisories and ensure that safety and communication systems are in place. People traveling on the Sinamalé Bridge are also advised to be cautious.

If you expect the roof to fall off due to strong winds, the agency advised people to make the roof windproof and tie up other items that the strong winds could throw away.

Farmers are urged to take immediate action to minimize the damage to the plants. In addition, boats moored in the harbor are advised to keep their ropes anchored in such a way that they will not be cut off.

The National Weather Service, Maldives Meteorology, has issued a white alert for the entire country.

The MET Office said heavy rain, thunderstorms and winds between 19 and 25 mph are expected, with gusts up to 45 mph in the clouds.

Two planes landing at Velana International Airport (VIA) have been made to go around due to strong winds. Heavy rain also made it difficult for another aircraft to make the go-around.
