Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office, Heena Waleed has stated that the first thing the government will do with the start of the 20th Parliament is introduce housing-related laws.

Speaking at a news conference at the President's Office today, Heena stated that government institutions, ministers and all personnel will be on duty 24 hours a day. They will include members of parliament and therefore they are preparing for the work of parliament, she said.

Heena said there are laws to be introduced with the start of the new parliament.

“There are important laws to be introduced in related to Hafuthaa 14, which are the highest priority laws, including housing laws, criminal justice laws, social security laws, and public administration laws,” she said.

Heena said the next sitting is the last sitting of the current Parliament. After that, the existing bills in Parliament will be reset, including important laws to be submitted to Parliament. These include the Land Act, the Real Estate Trade Act, the Social Housing Act, the Urban Development Act, the Copyright Act, the Prevention Health Care Act and the Criminal Procedure Act.

Heena said the government would also re-table the Sovereign Development Fund (SDF) bill, which was dropped in the current parliament.
