Maldives National University (MNU) has decided to shift its Medicine School's classes to the main campus and has assured the change will not create any challenges to the students.
MNU and IGMH signed an agreement in 2018 to lease the 8th and 14th floors of Dharumavantha Hospital to run the Medicine School campus for a 10-year period. However, IGMH has since terminated the agreement citing the expansion of the Hospital's services.
MNU has since begun the process to transfer the campus resources at Dharumavantha Hospital to MNU's main campus.
In a press release issued on Thursday, MNU said that while the relocation is ongoing, the university will always focus on ensuring that the learning experience of the students is not affected.
"We are in the process of setting up the facility at the university's main campus in a way that does not affect the classes or practical lab services of the medical school students. The students will continue to receive their practical assistance from Dharumavantha Hospital. At the same time, the Government is working with MNU to expedite building the medical school campus in Hulhumale'," MNU said.
The university said it has decided to shift the resources of the medicine school to the main campus as it will benefit the people of the country.
