The seaplane air ambulance, designed to ferry patients in case of health emergencies, has transferred the first patient.

Maldivian's media official told One on Tuesday that a person in need of emergency treatment was brought to Male' from Kudahuvadhoo today. This is the first patient to be flown since the seaplane air ambulance was prepared and put into service on Friday.

The air ambulance service was launched on March 1 to transfer patients in case of health emergencies, which uses a Maldivian seaplane and a DASH-8 aircraft, both of which have equipment and medicines to provide all necessary treatment to the patient in case of an emergency, as per the government.

Of the two boats, the seaplane will only travel during the day, with only one patient on board, while the DASH-8 aircraft can carry two people on board, with 25 medical trips completed as of Friday.
