A mosque built in Indonesia with the help of a Maldivian has been opened.

International Aid Campaign (AIC) Director of Media and Public Relations Azhad Ahmed told "One" today that the mosque was built in Indonesia with the generous help of a Maldivian individual who wished to remain anonymous.

The mosque can accommodate 200-250 people and up to 300 people can pray inside the mosque premises, he said.

The AIC started construction of the mosque in 2022. The mosque will be the foundation stone of the area as it is designated for a Quran center and boarding school, he said.

Azhad said 10 mosques have been built with the aid of the organisation and four mosques are already under construction.

He added that funds have been opened for the construction of two more mosques under the Tajri program. The two mosques will be built in Benin and Nigeria. The two 200-metre mosques will have a capacity of 240 people. Each of these mosques will cost MVR 572,000, he said.

In addition to the mats, furniture and carpets needed for the mosques, the mosque will have a Quran book for every square feet of the mosque.

In addition to the program, AIC has already built mosques in several countries to help Muslims in need. The AIC's project prices are based on an average of 12.5 percent of the estimated costs of operation, maintenance, sustainment, administrative operations and development of each project.
