The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) has passed a budget of MVR 38 million for this year.
The budget for the past year was detailed and details of expenditures were given at the MOC Annual General Meeting last night. In addition, the successful work done by the MOC last year was shared with the member associations and those who assisted in various activities of the MOC last year were appreciated.
The budget for this year was passed unanimously at the general meeting. The MOC relies on the government for a large share of the budget passed yesterday. An estimated MVR 28 million is expected to be received from the Ministry of Sports, who usually spend a lot on the Games. This year's budget will also spend the most on the Games.
The budget for the Olympics in Paris, France and the Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games in Thailand has also been allocated. The budget has been allocated for the Asian Games to be held in Pakistan.
This year, the MOC has also decided to spend on YDPs and has also allocated a budget for holding national games.
While a large portion of the budget will be spent directly on sporting activities, the MOC has tried to cut other expenditures.
