President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government will provide additional financial incentives to special educational needs (SEN) teachers.
On the Q&A platform ‘Raeesge Javaab’ on Saturday, a SEN teacher at the M. Mulaku School, expressed concern over the shortage of trained SEN teachers, and also inquired about the risk allowance previously paid to them. President Muizzu responded that the risk allowance was dropped following the implementation of a new pay framework by the previous administration.
“In Sha Allah, with respect to your concerns, the government will reinstate a risk allowance for SEN teachers or another special monetary allowance,” he said.
Addressing concerns over the shortage in trained SEN teachers, President Muizzu said training SEN teachers was a key policy of his administration. A program to train teachers in areas where there is a shortage of teachers will be launched in the middle of this year, he said.
However, before that, the President will work to increase the number of teachers available in the field.
