Vice-President Ismail Habib has resigned from the Elections Commission (EC) after completing two terms as a member of the commission.
In a post shared on X today, Habib said the 21 years of serving the people as an employee of the Elections Office and as a member of the Commission in planning and conducting general elections have been enduring experiences.
"I would like to thank the EC staff, members, institutions, parties, media and the people for their support," he said.
According to the law, the term of the commission's membership is five years and can be completed for a maximum of two terms. Habib was first appointed as a member of the commission on March 13, 2014, followed by a second term on March 13, 2019.
Habib had served in the Elections Office since 2013 before being appointed to the Election Commission.
