Allied Insurance has signed on as the sponsor of The Maldives Police Service's Road Safety Awareness and Prevention campaign 'Rakka'.

The agreement was signed between Allied and police at a ceremony held at Iskandar Koshi. The agreement was signed by The Allied's General Manager Ibrahim Firshan and by Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Navin on behalf of the police.

Speaking on the occasion, Allied General Manager Firshan said it is very important to teach the discipline of the roads to the new entrants and in the event of damage to a person or something in a major event, Allied provides additional comprehensive insurance.

"However, it is less than what can be compensated for and hence it is important for everyone to pay attention to road regulations to minimise the damage," Firshan said.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Police Navin said that he wanted to find out what are the tools that can be used to draw attention to the safety of vehicles in the upcoming programmes.

Naveen said it was important to train traffic monitors to build more new jails and appreciated the response of schools to such programmes.

Apart from Allied, Sheesha was also roped in as a sponsor on the occasion and an agreement was signed for the same.

As part of the 'Rakka' campaign, the police started conducting programmes ten years ago.
