The parliament session scheduled for today has been adjourned after the necessary quorum for the meeting was not met.

There were only 11 members present in the session after Hanimaadhoo MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa took the chair at 9:00 am to check the quorum. Therefore, it was announced that the session will be held at 9:30 am as the legal quorum is not met.

However, after 9:30 pm, Ghafoor said that the quorum was not met and the session could not be continued. The date of the next session will be announced later, he said.

The agenda for today's session includes the first reading of the Travel Planning Services Bill moved by Mathiveri MP Hassan Zareer and the Real Estate Business Bill moved by Thoddoo MP Hassan Shiyan.

In addition, the agenda also includew referring the proposition to participate in the "Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction” to the Standing Committee for consideration for parliamentary approval.

In addition, the debate on the resolution moved by MP Eva Abdulla on the re-appointment of three members of President Muizzu's cabinet members who were not approved by the parliament was also on the agenda.

Among the matters proposed by the committees, the agenda today is to decide on the report of the Local Government Committee on the Amendment to the Local Government Act.

A parliamentary session was scheduled for today after The Democrats called for the sessions to be held on the three days in accordance with the rules of the parliament.

The Democrats Party President and Henveiru West Constituency Member Hassan Lateef has filed a motion in parliament calling for the sessions to be held in that manner.
