President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the main opposition party, MDP, does not have any vision of development and is pursuing its own interests.

Speaking to the people of B. Kanditheem, during his four-day visit to four northern atolls, the President said that in developed and civilised democracies, no matter which party elects a person, he supports the development of the constituency or the country.

"The present opposition party prioritises the party line a lot in matters. This is not for the benefit of the country, they have their own vested interests. Over the past 3 months and even when MDP was in power, the Party has always worked on protecting the interests of a third party. That has been the situation in the country," President Dr. Muizzu said.

Assuring that he would fulfil the promises made during the elections, he said that he had proposed to include in the budget all that he had promised to the people, some of which had been included.

He said this was because the government was short of members in the current parliament and that parliament should become a parliament that provides things to the government.

"MPs will really play a big role in doing these things. As mentioned earlier, we are passing the budget in Parliament. The opposition MPs in the parliament have been obstructing the government. This is why it is important to have MPs who will support the government in ensuring all projects are carried out," he said.
