President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has once again criticised the parliament of obstructing the government's ongoing projects.

Speaking at a meeting with the people of the Hoarafushi this afternoon as the first destination of the President's visit to Boduthiladhunmathi, he said that a lot of support is needed from the parliament to fast-track the projects.

Pointing out that the parliament interferes with the administration through the constitutional system of the Maldives, President Dr. Muizzu said that the administration has been facing a lot of challenges in their plans for the first 14 weeks.

"We have been making a lot of effort to speed up projects within the last three months. We formulated Haftha 14 roadmap for this. But you can see the [parliament] has been obstructing us in many way," President Dr. Muizzu said.

He said that a person elected to parliament should be someone who helps projects.

He further said that when he took over the government, the amount owed to the public by companies and various agencies alone was MVR 9 billion. He said the opposition has been trying to portray the economic situation in a different light and thus he feels compelled to speak on the issue.
