Richard Verma, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources to the US government, arrived in the Maldives on Thursday and met with Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.

Verma arrived here as part of his visit to strengthen us relations with its Indo-Pacific partners, during which he also visited India and Sri Lanka.

Minister Zameer, in a post on X about his meeting with Verma at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the two sides discussed ways to strengthen people-to-people ties, economic prosperity, climate measures, defence and security.

He said the two countries also discussed ways to work together in the future to realize President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's vision of a prosperous and prosperous Maldives.

Since President Muizzu came to power, a number of Senior US officials have visited the Maldives, including In January, Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs at the US Department of State, met with President Dr. Muizz, who discussed the security of the Indian Ocean.

In the same month, US Indo-Pacific Command Admiral John Aquilino also met with President Dr. Muizzu and conveyed America's support for upholding the sovereignty and security of the Maldives.
