MDP and The Democrats have decided to boycott the opening session of the Parliament where President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will deliver the 2024 Presidential Address.

A member of MDP's parliamentary group told One Online that the decision was taken at a meeting held tonight. The reason for the boycott of the presidential address will be announced tonight, he said.

The Democrats issued a press release tonight, stating that the party has come to the attention that Mohammed Muizzu has invited three ministers who have not received the approval of parliament to the session to deliver the presidential statement. The Democrats said it was illegal to invite three ministers who had not been approved by parliament to the presidential statement.

The Democrats said they would not encourage such unconstitutional actions.

"For these reasons, members of The Democrats Parliamentary Group will not attend the session tomorrow," The Democrats said.
