Indicating to the intelligence report from India, the President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena, has said that the intelligence reports from friendly countries on had detailed information on Sundays terrorist attacks including the targets and explosives used before the attacks took place.

He said that the information was passed on to Sri Lankan intelligence on 4 April and the information was passed around internally until 12 April.

Sirisena has said that the neither the Inspector General of Police (IGP) nor the Defense Secretary shared the information with him. And the Defense Secretary would resign today and a new one would be appointed today.

President Sirisena also said that Muslims should not be viewed as terrorists and must be protected. And to put an end to Tauheed Group, the laws in effect does not allow it.

The President said that action would be taken against all who were negligent in their duties and major changes would be brought to the entire security system.

Deputy Defense Minister, Ruwan Wijewardene, has previously said that Sri Lanka’s Tauheed Group is behind the attack on Sunday. However, since then IS has claimed responsibility.

President Siriensa has said that the security forces of Sri Lanka have the capability to eradicate IS from Sri Lanka. But to do that the country is going to need assistance from other countries but would not bring forces from the outside.
