Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that India has agreed to withdraw all Indian troops in the Maldives by May 10.

The second meeting of the high-level co-group formed by the two countries to discuss the withdrawal of Indian troops from the Maldives was held in New Delhi on Friday.

Giving details of the discussions at the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that India has agreed to withdraw the troops deployed on India's three aviation platforms in the Maldives in two batches.

"Troops on one of the three aviation platforms will be withdrawn by March 10, 2024. The troops deployed on the remaining two platforms will be released by May 10, 2024," Foreign Ministry said.

However, India's Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying that Dornier operation will continue as agreed upon by the Maldives and India.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, after his official visit to China, said that a formal request has been made to India to evacuate all Indian troops in the Maldives by March 15.
