Dhiraagu has joined the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s project to repair the damage caused to Rasfari lagoon in 2021 after a cargo ship ran aground there.

Dhiraagu said on Monday that as part of the partnership that Dhiraagu will support the teams involved in the project and that the company has also donated dive kits to the teams involved in the reconstruction.

Dhiraagu's association with the project highlighted Dhiraagu's commitment to protect the Rasfari lagoon and hoped to work together as project partners, said EPA Director General Ibrahim Nayeem.

When contacted, Dhiraagu's Director of Brand and Marketing Communications, Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, said the company was delighted to work with EPA on such an important conservation project.

"Protecting the environment and maintaining the oceans is one of the main goals of our corporate social responsibility (CSR), so we have always strived to be a part of such environment-friendly activities," Mirshan said.

The project to repair the damage to the Rasfari lagoon will be carried out for five years, which includes re-planting corals in the reef, and conserving corals in the reef.

As part of the initiative, a team from Dhiraagu also participated in a recent coral plantation drive, the company said.
