The Democrats have urged the government not to resort to acts of forcing lawmakers to approve the Cabinet.

The Democrats said in a statement on Sunday night that the party had decided not to approve some cabinet ministers, and was concerned that members of the government had disrupted the proceedings of the house by disrupting the scheduled session of parliament regarding the approval of ministers today.

"Despite several attempts since this morning to hold the session, the fact that the issue of approval of the ministers could not proceed as per the Constitution due to obstruction by members belonging to the government is an irresponsible act committed on the part of the house without any legal prejudice to take up the legal responsibility of the members of parliament. Therefore, this party urges the government not to indulge in such acts to force the ministers to give their assent," The Democrats said.

The Democrats said the lawmakers have the right to vote on cabinet ministers' approvals as they see fit, adding that the government should not disrupt parliament session or hamper the function of lawmakers if they vote against the government's wishes.

Some members were also injured in the scuffle between the members of the Parliament earlier in the day after a scuffle broke out between the PNC and MDP members during an out-of-session meeting today to vote to approve the ministers.

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms the disruption of the entire parliamentary system by disrupting the meeting of the council of ministers held today," The Democrats statement said.

"It is the responsibility of the security services to ensure the safety and security of members of Parliament. However, this party condemns the failure of the security services to do enough to ensure the safety and security of the members even when they have been threatened and the house has been thrown into the House during the protest in the green zone," The Democrats said.

The Democrats called upon all agencies to create an environment in which members of parliament can discharge their duties and duties to the fullest extent, adding that while government officials are protesting in the green zone, irrespective of anyone, the security services must enforce the law.

"We call upon the security services to take all necessary measures, especially to ensure the safety and security of our members," The Democrats said.
