In order to increase women's participation in the tourism industry, a special programme titled 'Fahi Fathuruverikamah Anhenun' has been launched.
The Ministry of Tourism told the media that the 'Fahi Fathuruverikamah Anhenun' program was launched today as part of president Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's pledge to increase women's participation in the tourism sector as part of the Haftha 14 of president Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's manifesto.
According to the Ministry, the 'Fahi Fathuruverikamah Anhenun' programme will focus on creating awareness about the role of women in the tourism industry and building women in the tourism sector. The programme, which is planned twice a year, will be conducted in three phases.
In the first phase, the programme will identify areas of interest among students, encourage them to pursue that field and share information about the opportunities in the tourism industry through experts in the tourism industry, the Ministry said.
"Further, the main component of the programme will be to provide mentorship to students who have obtained certificates, diplomas or degrees in the field through tourism professionals," the Ministry said.
According to the Ministry, students will be provided with three months of mentorship and with the help of mentors, students will be prepared for the job environment, which will increase the contribution of women to the tourism industry and the country's economy.
