Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has expressed hope that the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) will address the problems faced by smaller countries like the Maldives.
In his address at the 19th NAM Summit in Uganda on Wednesday, Zameer said NAM brought hope that countries could unite and work together, and that NAM was proof that they could move forward in a turbulent world despite differences.
Minister Zameer said NAM has given hope that ideological divisions, loyalties and conflicts between countries will be resolved. NAM has given an opportunity to work together without differentiating between a small country and a large country. If countries work together, they will find ways to deal with geopolitics and the hardships of sudden disasters, Minister Zameer said.
Noting that countries need to be wary of international cyber attacks, their ability to respond to health emergencies and the threats to natural disasters with climate change. Minister Zameer said nam needs to be made more powerful.
He also said the Palestinians have the right to remain an independent state and called for an end to Israel's inhuman attacks on Palestinians and Palestinians.
