A Manta Air seaplane was damaged during the heavy rainfall last Wednesday.

A video circulating on social media shows the Manta Air plane crashing into the quay wall of an island. As the plane continued to crash with strong winds, a large hole is seen in the nose of the plane and other damages to various parts.

When asked about the incident, a Manta Air official told One Online that the incident occurred due to heavy rains on Wednesday night. The plane was cut off from the anchor and crashed, the official said.

No one was injured in the incident, the official said.

"The plane has now been taken for repairs. After repairs, it will be put back into service very soon," The Manta official said.

During bad weather, it is common in the Maldives for vessels to be cut off from anchor. There have been incidents of large ships, cruise ships, fishing vessels and seaplanes being cut off from the dock or rescued from being cut off.
