Manta Air has decided to launch direct flights to India.
Manta made the announcement at a ceremony with its trade partners in Bangalore yesterday. Direct flights to India will be launched from January next year.
Manta will fly from the Airport in Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo to Kempengoda International Airport in Bangalore. The decision is aimed at further expanding air travel between India and Maldives, the Airline said, adding that tourists will be able to travel to another locations within Maldives without coming to Velana International Airport.
With the launch of Manta flights to Dhaalu Airport, tourists from India will not have to transit at the VIA and transfer costs will be reduced, Manta said.
Dhaalu Atoll also has popular tourist resorts such as St. Regis Maldives and Niyama Private Islands. The Airport will provide immigration assistance and transfer services to tourists.
Speaking on the occasion, Manta Air CEO Mohamed Khaleel said the move from a domestic seaplane carrier and airline to an airline with international flights is an important step for the company’s growth. This will further improve the tourist experience and increase the bookings received by the resorts in Dhaalu Atoll, he said.
