In association with Guesthouse Association of Maldives and Maldives Getaways, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has conducted a Local Tourism Marketing Seminar in Male’ City.
Over 90 participants joined the seminar held at the Stelco Hall yesterday where presentations were given by leading professionals in the marketing industry, hotel revenue management, hotel distribution channel management, and other key areas.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Managing Director of MMPRC, Thoyyib Mohamed highlighted the importance of developing the local tourism industry in the Maldives and the necessary steps needed to take to promote guesthouses internationally.
Akhmeem Abdul Razzaq, the Managing Director of Maldives Getaways gave the keynote address sharing the Guesthouse Maldives story while key topics of presentations were given by Group Business Development Manager at Travel Weekly, Isabella Sharp, Head of International Destination Marketing, Maria Badakh, CEO of Maldives Getaways, Dr. Hussain Sunny Umar, Public Relations and Marketing Manager at Maldives Getaways, Ahmed Nasir, Commercial Director at Profitable Rooms, Varun Dewan and Co-founder, Director of Askalu Consulting, Katja Ruethemann and Marketing Manager of Allied Insurance Niushad Shareef along with a motivational speech from the Regional Director of Training, Development & Quality Assurance at LUX Resorts & Hotels, Hussain Afeef.
These seminars are conducted by MMPRC in accordance to the current government’s 100-day pledge to develop the local tourism industry in the Maldives.
This was the 8th series of the Local Island Tourism Marketing Seminar held in the Maldives. The previous sessions were held in Rasdhoo, Ukulhas, Dhigurah in Alifu Alifu atoll, Vaavu Thinadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo, Baa Dharavandhoo, and Maafushi in Kaafu atoll. Similar sessions are set to be held from 22nd April to 23rd May at Addu City, Laamu Atoll and Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.
