Minister Ameen has stated that the previous government had mediated the out-of-court settlement against the Civil Court's decision to compensate Mohamed Ameen (current transport minister) after he was removed as the director of flight operations of Island Aviation in 2019.

In June last year, the Civil Court had ordered Island Aviation to pay salaries, allowances and allowances from the date of dismissal to the date of his termination in violation of the employment agreement. The court had ordered MVR 2,871,236.00 as compensation from the date of dismissal.

Island Aviation then moved the High Court, but the Court on Sunday dismissed the case. The Court's dismissal report yesterday said that amin was paid MVR 2.202,580.02 and requested the court not to pursue the case further on November 16 as both sides had reached an out-of-court settlement in the matter.

When asked about the issue, Minister Ameen told 'One' that all discussions were held by the previous government to resolve the issue out of court, adding that the board of Island Aviation had discussed the matter out of court and deposited the money during the previous government.

"I was consulted on all these issues and offered by the previous government, all of which were completed before this government took over. So, it is unfair for anyone to make defamatory statements regarding the current government and myself," the Minister said.

The Minister said the agreed amount of MVR 2.2 million was much less than what the court had ruled, but he agreed to it as it was based on the cash flow of Island Aviation and the decision had to be taken out of Court as the case was pending in the High Court for a long time and the amount to be paid by Island Aviation was increasing every month.
