Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said that the Visitor Economic Council, chaired by President Mohammed Muizzu, aims to increase the country's tourism revenue from USD 4.5 billion to USD 6 billion.

The council, comprised of cabinet members, shared insights into its progress during a press conference held at the President's Office this afternoon.

At the press conference, the council’s co-chairs and other ministers explained the council's purpose and outlined plans to implement its mandate.

Minister Saeed underscored that the tourism sector currently contributes USD 4.5 billion to the economy, and emphasized the council's goal to increase this contribution to USD 6 billion, in alignment with the short-term objectives of President Dr. Muizzu’s administration.

The projected revenue increase involves diversifying tourism, exploring untapped avenues such as sports tourism, cultural tourism, education tourism and health tourism.

The formation of the Visitor Economic Council aligns with the President's vision to expand and diversify tourism, the cornerstone of the country's economy.
