Speculations have surfaced alleging that a minor involved in a mugging currently in police custody at Dhoonidhoo was given Dettol water.

The lawyer representing the minor, Shah Ali, told One Online that when his client was in Dhoonidhoo, water was given in an empty Dettol bottle. And at the hearing today at Juvenile Court, it was raised as an issue.

Shah said that when his client raised the issue, the presiding judge ordered the police to investigate it.

And when tobacco was discovered in the minor’s cell, parent visitations and other facilities were denied. Shah said that his client had one parent visit in 37 days and that was last month.

The court’s Juvenile Justice Unit has declared that the minor was not kept at an adequate location; in Dhoonidhoo where political detainees are kept in isolation.

Today and last Thursday, the Juvenile Justice Unit requested that the minor be moved to another place.

At the hearing today, the judge denied the remand extension of the minor and added just one extra day. And ordered the police to let the minor consult a doctor regarding the Dettol water.
