Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the President-elect should present a schedule regarding the loss of territorial waters and Indian soldiers.

Speaking at a party meeting for the first time since the house arrest was lifted, President Yameen said that the two main issues were the sale of the sea to Mauritius and the presence of Indian military in Maldives. If the government resolves both the issues it will be enough, he said.

President Yameen said that the land is very strong and the Maldives has abandoned most of the waters. This was done "in the blink of an eye," he said.

Yameen said that the biggest task is to maintain the territory of the Maldives and restore full sovereignty and independence.

"Our president who has now been elected (Dr. Muizzu). The first thing to do is do the following two things and the status of the work to be announced to the people. How much progress is there," Yameen said.

"The current president has announced how he will do various things, which are good for the people. These are the two things I want to hear with the most interest. The schedule on how much work we can do, how much work can be done on the issue of maritime erosion, what can be done to get the Indian army out of here in the same way," Yameen said.

Yameen said that if he could not do so, he would have to take to the streets with "Indian out" on his T-shirt.
