Abbas Faiz, the representative appointed by the President to monitor the progress of the attempted assassination of former President Mohamed Nasheed, has said that neither the government nor the opposition is involved in the attack.

Speaking during a press conference at the President's Office today, Abba noted that there was no involvement of the government or the opposition in the attack. He further said the MMPRC corruption case had nothing to do with the attack.

"Repeated evidence showed that there was anger among the extremists," Abbas said.

Abbas said the investigation has not yet found any outside involvement in the attack.

Abbas said the biggest concern about the attack on Nasheed was that the accused had received financial or other assistance from people who were not among them.

Abbas said he had shared his concerns with the Chief Justice, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and the Parliament.

Ahmed Adham Rashid, 23, has been convicted of the bombing. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 23 years in prison on December 14,
