Security measures have been tightened as gangs have increased their criminal activities.
Police today said they have tightened security measures for the presidential election as gangs have been noticed committing crimes. Police are also taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the public.
"There have been reports of threats and intimidation of some people by members of such groups and attacks on some people involved in election-related activities today," the police said.
Police said they are investigating the incident as a serious case.
Police issued such a statement after two MPs, Feydhoo MP Mohammed Nihad and Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Sharef, were attacked.
Meanwhile, a group of people gathered at the Mookai Hotel last night and caused a commotion while MDP was conducting campaign activities.
